| Lloyd's Biography |
| Lloyd grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1983. In 1987 he graduated from the University of Lowell (now UMass-Lowell) with a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Criminal Justice. He was also commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Lloyd spent close to eight years on active duty first with the security police and then as a special agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. His assignments included Pease AFB, NH, Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan and Little Rock AFB, AR. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal three times and achieved the rank of Captain. In 1995, as part of the Cold War "peace dividend," Lloyd left the thinning active duty ranks and moved to Orlando, FL where he tried his hand in the film and television industry. During this time, Central Florida was being touted as the up and coming “Hollywood East.” Though this never came to fruition, he did appear on a number of television shows including “seaQuest 2032” and “Second Noah.” In addition, Lloyd had bit parts in the films “Contact” and the independently produced “Ready, Willing & Able.” He also played the role of Lt Col Jessup (made famous by Jack Nicholson) in the stage version of “A Few Good Men” at the Walt Disney Institute. Lloyd also got to live out another long time dream of working at Walt Disney World during this period. While working on the set of “seaQuest” he began reading the scripts and became interested in writing a screenplay of his own. As a child, Lloyd had often written short stories for his own amusement and now at the age of thirty, he again picked it up; this time however with the idea of making a career of it. His first script, the vampire thriller “Dark Millennium” was optioned by a couple of experienced local producers in the Orlando area (Boris Malden and Walter von Huene) who helped him hone his craft and encouraged him to keep writing. A second script, the romantic comedy “Love & Zen” won the best screenplay award at the 2000 Kissimmee Film Festival. Lloyd stayed in Florida for close to seven years but after the tragedy of 9-11, decided to move his family back to his native New England. It was shortly after that he shifted his focus from screenplays to novels. In his own words, Lloyd came to the realization that “there are only a relatively small amount of films produced each year while there are literally thousands of novels printed.” A long time fan of Robert B. Parker’s “Spenser” series of detective novels, in mid-2002 he began to fashion his own detective story taking place in the city of Lowell; the city where he'd spent his college years. Today that first novel is “Two Redheads & a Dead Blonde.” Lloyd's future plans include additional novels including the recently completed “Chasing Curves” the next in the “Ronan Marino” mystery series and a graphic novel based on the “Dark Millennium” screenplay. He continues to write, admittedly very slowly, what he calls a “great American novel” dealing with roots and redemption. He is also working closely with The Woofenill Works, a New York based production house, to turn both “Two Redheads” and “Dark Millennium” into feature films. Lloyd is a first generation second degree black belt in Okinawan Seidokan; having trained directly under Grand Master Shian Toma while stationed in Japan in the Air Force. He also plays guitar, harmonica, sings and writes his own music. At various times, Lloyd has performed with a number of local groups playing classic rock and country music. He currently resides in Nashua, NH with his wife Michelle, their two children and a spoiled rat terrier named Ginger the latest addition, Boomer the ferocious toy fox terrier. |
